No LPG, Petrol or Diesel Shortage in Bihar: Govt Holds High-Level Review Meeting

Today, on March 12, 2026, a high-level and important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Mihir Kumar Singh, Development Commissioner, Bihar. Representatives from all major oil and gas companies were present in person, while all the state's Commissioners, DIGs, IGs, District Magistrates (DMs), and Superintendents of Police (SPs) joined via video conferencing (VC). The meeting was addressed by the Development Commissioner, DGP, and Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department.
During the meeting, representatives from all oil and gas companies clarified that there are no gas supply problems anywhere in the state. They have adequate reserves and there are no shortages in pipelines. Petrol and diesel supplies are also running completely uninterrupted, and there will be no shortages in the coming days.
The Development Commissioner informed that approximately 98% of the state's total gas supply is for domestic LPG cylinders, while less than 2% is for commercial use. In accordance with the guidelines of the Government of India, the Bihar government is ensuring that domestic LPG supplies remain uninterrupted. There is no shortage anywhere.
Given the current situation, commercial gas supplies have been limited as a precautionary measure. However, it has been clarified that no gas supply will be stopped to hospitals and educational institutions; they will continue to receive 100% supply.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) stated that due to excessive server load, consumers were experiencing problems receiving OTPs. To address this, the company has decided that OTPs will no longer be required for gas delivery.
The Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, have issued strict instructions to all District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to ensure immediate and strict action wherever reports of gas hoarding or black marketing are received. Additionally, to ensure smooth distribution, gas distributors will be shifted from one area to another every four to five days.
The public should be continuously reassured that there is no shortage of gas, petrol, or diesel in the state. The public is urged to ignore any misleading or inaccurate information. All District Magistrates have been instructed to regularly provide accurate and accurate information on their districts' official social media pages to ensure that fact-based information reaches the public.
