Northern Railway Collects Over ₹32 Lakh in Fines During Festival Ticket Checking Drive

To facilitate passengers and ensure comfortable travel, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway conducted special ticket checking drives at all railway stations and collected a fine of more than Rs 32 lakhs in ten days of festival season.
The railway PRO said that the drives conducted under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal played a crucial role in improving passenger convenience and increasing revenue.
During the festive season, as per the handout, ticket checking drives were conducted daily in the division to provide better passenger convenience and prevent illegal travel.
On October 24 a team, headed by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, including Assistant Commercial Manager, Manoj Meena, Chief Ticket Inspector, Abdul Rashid, and other ticket checking staff, conducted extensive checks at stations and trains, with special checks on both up and down trains.
In this campaign, fines of over Rs 7 lakh were collected in just one day, charging 1,200 passengers for traveling without tickets.
Additional data from the last ten days of the festive season ticket checking campaign, over Rs 32 lakhs were collected in fines from approximately 2,500 passengers travelling without tickets.
Regarding this successful campaign, Uchit Singhal said, "Our efforts to strengthen ticket checking during the festivals have yielded positive results. This has led to increased revenue and significantly improved travel experience for valid passengers."
He further stated that the Jammu Division is newly formed, which can lead to a shortage of ticketing staff. However, the division's ticket checking staff has performed remarkably well."
