Extra-C conducted an engaging workshop on cryptic crosswords at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the prestigious law school, who delved into the art of solving cryptic crossword puzzles.

The workshop began with an insightful PowerPoint presentation, introducing participants to the nuances of cryptic crosswords. Following this, students were given a crossword grid to solve, fostering an interactive and intellectually stimulating experience. Each clue’s answer was then explained in detail, helping participants grasp the logic behind cryptic crossword construction.

Additionally, students were introduced to Extra-C’s official website, www.crypticsingh.com, and briefed on The Art of Cryptic Crosswords, a book authored by senior IAS officer Shri Vivek Kumar Singh. The session also highlighted various online crossword competitions, including NICE, ACAD Plus, and ACAD Global, sparking keen interest among the attendees.

Sharing her experience, Karthika Reddy, a sixth-semester student, remarked, “It was a fantastic learning experience. I thoroughly enjoyed understanding the intricacies of cryptic crosswords and plan to buy the book to further hone my skills.”

Neelaksh Sati and Shreyansh Jha, both fourth-semester students, described the session as an entirely new and exciting experience. They expressed their eagerness to register for the online crossword competitions conducted by Extra-C.

The workshop successfully introduced students to the world of cryptic crosswords, reinforcing the significance of analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
