Patna Connects Nine Drainage Pumping Stations to Smart Control Center to End Monsoon Waterlogging

Foolproof arrangements equipped with state-of-the-art facilities have been completed to provide permanent relief from water-logging in various areas of the capital Patna during the rainy season. A total of nine drainage pumping stations (DSP) of the capital Patna have been connected to the Integrated Control and Command Center (ICCC) located at Gandhi Maidan. Along with installing water level sensors, temperature and vibration sensors in all these nine pumping stations, the entire system has been connected to the ICCC. Due to the automation of drainage pumping stations, the control room is receiving alerts of any kind of abnormal situation such as water level going above the prescribed limit or pump failure. Not only this, this system automatically controls the operation of the pumps, so that the water level is maintained within the prescribed limit.

Let us tell you that this is a part of the Patna Smart City Project. It is also worth mentioning here that the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme has been implemented in July last year to accelerate the development of urban areas of the state. Under this, schemes like development of infrastructure in urban areas of the state such as drainage system, construction and renovation of roads, construction and beautification of parks have been included. Under this project, a total of nine drainage pumping stations of the capital Patna have been connected to ICCC. The government has spent a total of seven crore, 80 lakh rupees on this.

Its specialty is that water level sensors have been installed in all pumping stations. Due to which real time monitoring of water level has been started. Water level is being controlled through these sensors. So that the drainage pumping system can be started at the right time and the capital Patna can get permanent relief from the problem of water logging. For this, cameras have been installed above the sump and screen. This control room is working in all three shifts (24X7).

This system sends automatic alerts to monitor the water level. If the water level goes above the prescribed limit, then there is also a system to send alerts on mobile phones. So that the technical team can be informed immediately and quick and effective action can be taken at the drainage pumping stations.
