PM Modi Arrives in Kurukshetra for 350th Martyrdom Tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur; Unveils Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra

Kurukshetra is set to host a historic gathering today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives on the sacred land to participate in events marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, revered as the ‘Hind Ki Chadar.’
The state-level congregation at Jyotisar, organised by the Haryana government, will witness the presence of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, cabinet members, and several dignitaries.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly developed Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra at Jyotisar. He will also take part in a grand Maha Aarti at the holy Brahma Sarovar as part of the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav.
The visit aims to highlight Haryana’s deep spiritual legacy, as Kurukshetra is among the most sacred places associated with Sikh and Hindu history.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is remembered for standing against religious oppression during Aurangzeb’s rule and sacrificing his life for the protection of faith and freedom. His disciples Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji — also made supreme sacrifices.
The event gains added significance as eight Sikh Gurus have visited Kurukshetra, and the state houses nearly 28 historic gurdwaras linked to their journeys. Since November 1, 2025, commemorative programmes and spiritual yatras across Haryana have been spreading the Guru’s teachings.
Chief Minister Saini recently inspected arrangements at Purushottam Bagh and Brahma Sarovar, reviewing security and infrastructure for the Prime Minister’s arrival. He also interacted with foreign delegates participating in the International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav.
The Anubhav Kendra, developed under the Ministry of Tourism’s ‘Swadesh Darshan’ scheme at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore, showcases the philosophy, science, and history of the Mahabharata through immersive technologies.
The complex also features a grand memorial housing the divine conch Panchjanya, symbolising Lord Krishna’s call for righteousness.
As PM Modi joins the Maha Aarti amid Vedic hymns and thousands of lamps illuminating Brahma Sarovar, Kurukshetra’s spiritual identity is expected to resonate across the world, reaffirming its stature as a global centre of cultural and religious heritage.
