PM Modi, French President Macron Hold Bilateral Talks in Mumbai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron held bilateral talks at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai today. The two leaders discussed strategic cooperation between India and France across key sectors, including defence, security, trade, and cultural exchange.
Several Memoranda of Understanding are expected to be signed during the visit.
President Macron paid tribute to the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks at the historic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, reaffirming France's solidarity with India in the fight against terrorism.
In a message shared on social media, he said France stands with India in the face of terrorism with unity and determination, extending support to the families and loved ones of the victims.
The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel was one of the primary targets during the November 2008 terrorist attacks that claimed 166 lives.
President Macron also interacted with prominent personalities from Indian cinema, highlighting the cultural ties between the two nations. The engagement underscores the growing people-to-people connections between India and France beyond strategic and economic partnerships.
This is President Macron's fourth visit to India and his first to Mumbai. He is on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026 being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Later today, the two leaders will inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 and address a gathering of business leaders, start-ups, researchers, and innovators from both countries.
The bilateral discussions are expected to further strengthen the India-France Strategic Partnership and diversify cooperation into new and emerging areas.
