Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the second day of the DG–IG Conference at IIM Naya Raipur on Saturday, marking an intensive phase of discussions on India's internal security priorities.

Accompanied by union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior security officials from across the country, the Prime Minister is leading deliberations aimed at strengthening institutional coordination and preparing policing systems for emerging national challenges.

The conference, one of the country's most significant annual security platforms, has brought together Directors General and Inspectors General of Police from all States and union Territories, alongside chiefs of central police and intelligence organisations. The sessions are examining the full spectrum of internal security issues, including intelligence integration, technology-enabled policing, interstate coordination and field level response capabilities.

The first day of the conference saw the announcement of India's best performing police stations, based on an evaluation framework running across more than 70 indicators. Delhi's Ghazipur Police Station was ranked first, followed by Pahargaon in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Kavitla in Karnataka's Raichur district. Ghazipur SHO U. Bala Sankaran, whose team received the top national recognition, said the ranking reflected consistent attention to citizen services, case management and day-to-day operational discipline.

Friday's inaugural session featured National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, R&AW Chief Parag Jain and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka. Their presence underscored the conference's widening scope, moving beyond routine policing concerns towards a more integrated national security approach. The discussions focused on strengthening the intelligence network, anticipating future threats and improving coordination between States, central agencies and field formations.

The Prime Minister reached Raipur late Friday evening. He was welcomed at Swami Vivekananda Airport by Home Minister Amit Shah, Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. PM Modi is staying at the Speaker's House (M-1), while the Home Minister is lodged at the Finance Minister's residence (M-11). Modi is scheduled to attend sessions from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and again from 8 am to 4:30 pm on Sunday, before returning to New Delhi.

As the conference enters its most substantive stage, officials say the intent is to bridge the gap between strategic assessments at the national level and operational realities on the ground.

With security threats evolving rapidly, from technology driven crime to extremist networks adjusting their methods, the Raipur deliberations are expected to influence policing priorities over the coming year.
