PM Modi Tells Students: Small Habits Like Finishing Food Build 'Viksit Bharat'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed delight during the second episode of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026' on Monday upon discovering that students in Classes 10 and 12 are already envisioning a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.

Speaking at an interactive session with students in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, alongside participants from across the country, PM Modi highlighted how young minds are thinking beyond exams towards the nation's future goals.

The Prime Minister gave a powerful example: finishing every bit of food on the plate at home. He asked students to imagine the massive savings if everyone avoided wastage—even small amounts left uneaten add up across millions of households.

"Such small acts directly help build a stronger, more responsible India," PM Modi emphasized.

Using the red light at traffic signals as an illustration, PM Modi spoke about everyday discipline. If a person stops their scooter at a red light without fail, it demonstrates self-control and respect for rules.

He stressed that these basic civic habits are essential steps toward national progress, urging youth to take ownership of such changes in their daily lives.

The Prime Minister delivered a key message about priorities: discipline forms the foundation of a meaningful life. Without it, no amount of inspiration or motivation can bring true success.

"Discipline comes first, while inspiration is merely an added bonus, like a cherry on top," he said.

The ninth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha has drawn over 4.5 crore registrations. PM Modi encouraged students to view exams not just as tests but as opportunities to build character and skills for lifelong growth.

Viewers across India tuned in via Doordarshan, the Prime Minister's YouTube channel, and other platforms. The session reinforced the program's aim to reduce exam stress while inspiring students to consider their role in India's journey toward prosperity.
