PM Modi Unveils Commemorative Stamps Honoring Ram Temple, Lauds Ramayana's Timeless Message

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled six special postage stamps dedicated to the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya on Thursday, January 18th. He also released an album showcasing similar stamps issued by various countries around the world featuring Lord Ram.

"These stamps are more than just pieces of paper," Modi said at the event. "They are miniature history books, artifacts, and historical sites rolled into one." He emphasized the role of postage stamps in transmitting historical events across generations, stating, "Every time you send a letter or object with a stamp, you're sending a piece of history."

Modi extended his congratulations to devotees of Lord Ram both within and beyond India. He expressed hope that the stamps would educate younger generations about Ram's life and teachings.

He lauded the efforts of saints and the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in collaborating with the postal department to create the commemorative series. Highlighting the universal appeal of Ramayana, Modi asserted that "the teachings of Lord Ram, Maa Sita, and the epic transcend the boundaries of time, society, and caste."

"Ramayana, with its lessons of love, sacrifice, unity, and courage in the face of adversity, connects the whole of humanity," he said, attributing the epic's global fascination to its timeless themes.

Modi also unveiled a book showcasing commemorative stamps featuring Lord Ram issued by several countries, including the United States, Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Czech Republic, Fiji, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Thailand, Guyana, and Singapore. He noted the "great interest" these nations have shown in celebrating Ram's life through philately.

The launch of the stamps and book signifies the global impact of Ramayana and Lord Ram's enduring legacy. These collectibles serve not only as historical mementos but also as educational tools for understanding diverse cultural interpretations of the epic.
