Police Launches Website to Ensure Police Witnesses Appear for Speedy Trials

Now speedy trial cases will not be delayed due to lack of witnesses and testimony. Bihar Police is preparing a foolproof system for hearing criminal cases selected for speedy trial. In this, whether the witness is private or government, he will have to appear in court for testimony under all circumstances. In any case, police personnel will be summoned through a special website to testify. In this case, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar says that many cases of speedy trial remain pending due to witnesses not appearing in court on time. He admitted that many police officers and personnel also remain absent during the hearing of the cases, due to which the trial of the case is affected.
DGP Vinay Kumar said that now this will not happen. The salary of police officers and personnel who do not appear in court on time for testimony during the hearing of the case will be stopped. He said that Bihar Police is going to launch a website very soon for police officers and personnel made witnesses in criminal cases. Through which summons will be sent to those police officers for testimony in the court, who have been made witnesses in criminal cases and have been transferred to another district of the state. Not only this, through this website summons will also be sent to those police officers and personnel who have retired or are ill. He said that it is the responsibility of the police to bring such government witnesses to the court for testimony. The police itself will arrange for vehicles to bring them to the court. Also, other facilities will also be provided as per their need.
The DGP said that speedy justice is not only the fundamental right of the victim party, but it is also the fundamental right of the people who have been made accused in such cases. If the people who have been made accused in such cases are proved innocent, then after the hearing they will be immediately acquitted by the court and if they are proved guilty, then they will be punished for their crime. He said that in recent times the police has shown its activism regarding testimony in the court. The number of private witnesses appearing in court to testify in criminal cases has also doubled. Vinay Kumar said that there is a danger of private witnesses turning hostile due to delay in hearing of criminal cases. Let us tell you that to control crime, Bihar Police has prepared a proposal to the government for formation of 100 fast track courts in the entire state. It is also worth mentioning here that from the year 2000 to 2011, a total of 178 fast track courts were functioning in the entire state. But after the year 2011, the fast track courts were abolished in the state.
