In light of the Jalandhar West bye poll, the Punjab government announced on July 10, 2024 (a Wednesday), a paid vacation for Jalandhar West voters who are employed in shops and commercial establishments as well as for workers in industries located in the state of Punjab.

An official spokeswoman informed us of this here, stating that the Department of Personnel has released two different notifications regarding this. In accordance with these notifications, the Punjab Governor is happy to announce that, instead of a closed day falling on any day between July 7 and July 13, 2024, voters of the 34-Jalandhar West (SC) Assembly Constituency who work in shops and commercial establishments located in the State of Punjab will have a closed day on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

He went on to say that, in accordance with another notification, the Punjab Governor has granted all voters in the 34-Jalandhar West (SC) Assembly Constituency who are employed by registered factories in the State of Punjab—where July 10, 2024, is not a closed day—an exemption from the operation on that day.
