Punjab Police Hosts State-Level Consultation on Human Trafficking

The Punjab Police’s Community Affairs Division, in collaboration with Just Rights for Children, organized a state-level consultation on human trafficking at the State Judicial Academy in Chandigarh.
The event brought together representatives from police, government departments, state commissions, and non-governmental organizations to address the pressing issue.
In his inaugural address, the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab described human trafficking as a grave and exploitative crime that disproportionately targets vulnerable populations, leaving long-lasting consequences.
He emphasized the urgent need for enhanced interstate and interagency coordination among police, labor, women and child welfare departments, and NGOs to effectively combat this menace across state borders.
The consultation featured valuable insights from senior officers, the Railway Protection Force, Rajasthan Police, UIDAI, and members of the Punjab State Commissions for Women and Children.
Discussions focused on strengthening law enforcement, improving cyber monitoring, ensuring robust implementation of policies, and raising public awareness as critical strategies to tackle human trafficking.
The event underscored a collective commitment to addressing the complexities of human trafficking through collaborative and proactive measures.
