Punjab to Construct Three New 12MW Solar Power Plants in Bathinda District

Mr. Aman Arora, Minister of New and Renewable Energy Sources, Punjab, announced that the government, headed by Chief Minister S Bhagwant Singh Mann, is ready to build three more 12MW (4MW each) solar power plants in the Bathinda district, taking yet another decisive step towards decarbonising the agricultural sector by using solar power energy.

In order to provide the agricultural power need, he said, the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) recently put into operation a 4MW solar PV plant in Tarkhanawala village in Bathinda. At Sekhu village, the closest PSPCL grid sub/station receives the power produced by the project.

The three 12MW Solar PV Power projects worth 50 crores are expected to be commissioned by June 2025. The Minister of New and Renewable Energy Sources stated that these initiatives will help PSPCL meet its power needs at a very low cost and will also show the idea of solarizing agricultural electricity and offer many advantages to the people in the State.

He said that the long-term PPA solar power delivered by these projects to PSPCL is priced at Rs 2.748 per KWh.
