Rajasthan Leads as Election Commission’s Intensive Digitisation Drive Crosses 13.64 Crore Forms

The Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has gained significant momentum across 12 states and union Territories, with over 13.64 crore enumeration forms digitised so far.

According to the latest bulletin issued by the Election Commission of India on November 21, Rajasthan is now leading the nationwide tally, followed closely by West Bengal, which stands in the second position among all the participating states.

As per the ECI data, Rajasthan has digitised 2.96 crore enumeration forms, the highest in the country. West Bengal, with 2.45 crore forms digitised, holds the second position. Madhya Pradesh follows in third place with 2.28 crore forms uploaded closely followed by Tamil Nadu that has completed digitisation of 1.84 voters.

Gujarat comes next where digitisation of 1.79 crore SIR forms has been completed. Uttar Pradesh has so far completed the digitisation of 1.42 crore forms, while Chhattisgarh has uploaded 57.80 lakh.

Among other states and union Territories, Tamil Nadu has digitised 18.94 lakh forms, Kerala 17.21 lakh, Goa 7.08 lakh, and Puducherry 4.05 lakh.

Smaller territories like Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep have digitised 1 lakh and 35,440 forms respectively. In West Bengal, officials describe the progress as “satisfactory,” with the pace improving after the Commission imposed a daily uploading target of 150 forms per BLO.

“The digitisation process in the state is so far satisfactory and we hope to complete it within the stipulated period. We are closely monitoring the activities of the BLOs and we find that the BLOs are not following the instructions,” Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal Monoj Agarwal said.

The state has distributed 7.64 crore enumeration forms so far, of which 2.45 crore have already been digitised. The ECI, however, has stepped up monitoring. Seven BLOs in Kolkata received showcause notices for slow digitisation yesterday.

Earlier, eight BLOs were warned for bypassing door-to-door distribution norms, and FIRs were filed against eight booth-level agents for allegedly interfering in the process.

With Rajasthan setting the pace and West Bengal emerging as a close second, the Commission is expected to intensify supervision in the coming days to meet its target for completing digitisation within November.
