RSS Chief Bhagwat Redefines "Hindu Rashtra" as Inclusive Vision, Not Power-Based Concept

On the first day of the three-day lecture series organized to commemorate the centenary year of the Sangh, RSS chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat said that the Sangh was formed with India at the center and its significance lies in India becoming the world leader. The inspiration for the Sangh work comes from the “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” said at the end of the Sangh prayer. The process of the rise of the Sangh has been slow and long, which is still continuing.
He said that although the Sangh uses the word Hindu, its essence is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. Under this gradual development, the Sangh considers the village, society and nation as its own. The Sangh work is completely run by volunteers. The workers themselves prepare new workers. A three-day lecture series has been organized on the topic '100 years of Sangh journey - New horizons' at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. On the objective of the lecture series, Mohan Bhagwat ji said that the organization thought that true and correct information about the Sangh should reach the society.
A similar event was also organized in the year 2018. This time, programs will be organized at four places so that the true form of the Sangh can reach as many people as possible. He said that the definition of a nation is not based on power. Even when we were enslaved, there was a nation. The English word 'Nation' is connected to 'State', whereas the concept of Indian nation is not connected to power.
On the freedom struggle and the subsequent development of ideologies in the country, he said that the first attempt at independence in 1857 was unsuccessful, but it awakened a new consciousness. After that, a movement arose that how could a handful of people defeat us. Another thought also emerged that Indians lack political understanding. Congress arose due to this need, but after independence, it could not do the work of ideological enlightenment properly. This is not an accusation, but a fact.
After independence, one stream emphasized on eradicating social evils, while the other stream talked about returning to its origin. Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Swami Vivekanand took this idea forward. He said that Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and other great men believed that all efforts would remain incomplete without removing the vices of society. Falling prey to slavery again and again is an indication that there are deep flaws in society. Hedgewar ji decided that when others do not have time, he himself will work in this direction. By establishing the Sangh in 1925, he put forward the objective of organizing the entire Hindu society.
Explaining the essence of the name Hindu, the Sarsanghchalak ji clarified that the meaning of the word 'Hindu' is not only religious, but also a sense of responsibility towards the nation. This name was given by others, but we have always seen ourselves from an anthropological point of view. We believe that man, humanity and creation are interconnected and influence each other. Hindu means inclusion and there is no limit to inclusion.
The Sarsanghchalak ji said that what does Hindu mean - one who believes in it, walks on his own path, does not change others. Respect the faith of others, do not insult it. Those who have this tradition, this culture, are Hindus. We have to organize the entire Hindu society. Saying Hindu does not mean that it is Hindu versus all, it is not like that at all. ‘Hindu’ means inclusive.
He said that the nature of India is of coordination, not of conflict. The secret of India’s unity lies in its geography, resources and tradition of introspection. We looked inside and searched for the truth instead of looking outside. This vision taught us that there is the same element in everything, even if it appears in different forms. This is the reason why Bharat Mata and ancestors are revered by us.
Mohan Bhagwat ji said that only the one who believes in Bharat Mata and his ancestors is a true Hindu. Some people consider themselves Hindus, some call themselves Indians or Sanatanis. Words may change, but behind them lies the feeling of devotion and reverence. India’s tradition and DNA connects everyone. Unity in diversity is the identity of India. He said that gradually those people who earlier used to keep a distance from it have also started calling themselves Hindus. Because when the quality of life improves, people return to the origin. We do not say that you should only say Hindu.
We tell you that you are a Hindu. There is no meaning behind these words, there is content, in that content there is devotion to Mother India, there is the tradition of ancestors. The DNA of the people of India has been the same since 40 thousand years ago. He said that make the life of those who are calling themselves Hindus better. Those who do not say it will also start saying it. Those who have forgotten for some reason will also remember. But what is to be done, the organization of the entire Hindu society. When we say Hindu Rashtra, it is not that we are leaving anyone out. The Sangh has not come out in protest or for reaction. Hindu Rashtra has nothing to do with power.
He said about the Sangh's working method that for the upliftment of the society, the Sangh adopts two paths - first, to develop humans and second, to get social work done by them. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is an organization. The work of the organization is to do the work of human development. Volunteers of the Sangh work in various fields, but the organization does not control them. He said that there was opposition and neglect towards the Sangh. But the Sangh considered the society as its own.
