Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar Pal Holds Key Meeting on Sultanganj–Aguwani Ghat Ganga Bridge Project

A significant review meeting was held today in the departmental conference hall under the chairmanship of Road Construction Department Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar Pal to expedite the construction work of the Sultanganj–Aguwani Ghat Ganga Bridge project.
Senior officials of the department, along with experts from IIT Roorkee and other officers associated with the project, were present at the meeting.
Considerable progress has been recorded in the construction of approach roads on both sides of the project. The directions issued during the site inspection conducted by the Chief Secretary of Bihar on 13.12.2025 are being strictly complied with. Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar Pal directed the contractor to further accelerate the work by ensuring adequate deployment of resources so that all components of the project are completed within the stipulated timeline. He also made it clear that no compromise would be accepted on the quality of construction.
The Secretary stated that the Road Construction Department is continuously monitoring the project to ensure timely and smooth completion of the work.
It is noteworthy that this Ganga Bridge project will play a crucial role in connecting Bhagalpur and Khagaria districts. Once completed, it will strengthen regional connectivity and give a major boost to trade, transportation, and socio-economic activities.
Following the resumption of work and in light of the directions issued during the review meeting held via video conferencing on 05.01.2026, the latest status of the approach roads towards Aguwani Ghat and Sultanganj was reviewed up to 16.01.2026 in the meeting chaired by the Road Construction Department Secretary.
It was informed that the bridge foundation design will be vetted by IIT Roorkee within one week, after which the bridge foundation work will be taken up immediately. The meeting also decided that all bridge foundation work between Pier-9 and Pier-12 will be undertaken without delay.
The total length of the approach roads related to the project is 20.300 kilometres, and the construction work is being carried out as per the scheduled program.
