Sikkim Chief Minister Inaugurates New 100-Bed District Hospital in Mangan

Gangtok: On Wednesday, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated a newly constructed 100-bed District Hospital in Mangan, marking a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in North Sikkim. Built at an estimated cost of ₹29.60 crore, the hospital is set to become the region’s primary medical centre, serving both locals and visitors alike.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister described the hospital as a “state-of-the-art facility” and a significant step forward in strengthening the state’s healthcare system. He expressed confidence that the new hospital will ensure access to quality medical services for all residents of North Sikkim.
“Today’s inauguration is a momentous occasion,” Tamang said. “The infrastructure we are unveiling will serve the people of Mangan for many years to come. It is important for us to have faith in our healthcare facilities and trust the capabilities of our doctors, who are well-equipped to provide the highest standards of care.”
Since assuming office, Tamang has focused strongly on improving healthcare across the state, aiming to provide every citizen with access to quality treatment. The new hospital, spread over four floors, has been designed with modern safety, functionality, and resilience in mind.
Beyond serving the local population, the hospital is expected to cater to the large migratory workforce as well as domestic and international tourists visiting North Sikkim. Key facilities within the hospital include a dialysis unit, an emergency unit, and multiple wards to address a range of medical needs.
During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted with patients and praised the upgraded infrastructure and services. “This hospital will optimise patient care, improve efficiency, and restore essential healthcare services in the region,” he noted.
Tamang also inspected the patient wards and highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness and round-the-clock service to meet the growing demands of the population.
With this new facility, North Sikkim takes a significant step toward enhanced healthcare access and better medical support for its residents and visitors.
