Sultanganj–Aguwani Ghat Ganga Bridge to Be Completed in 18 Months, Weekly Reviews Ordered

A detailed review meeting on the progress of the Sultanganj-Aguwani Ghat Ganga Bridge Project was held via video conferencing under the chairmanship of Mr. Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary, Road Construction Department. The project involves the construction of a crucial 4-lane cable-stayed bridge (with footpath) over the Ganga River, connecting Bhagalpur and Khagaria districts, which will transform regional connectivity, trade, and economic development. Senior department officials, relevant project officials, and others were present at the meeting.

The Secretary reviewed the progress of the project's construction. The Senior Project Engineer informed that IIT Rorkee has granted in-principle approval for the foundation and substructure designs. The old well cap P10 is being cut to construct the well caps between P9 and P13, and preparations are underway to cut the old well caps between P11 and P12. The Authority Engineer is reviewing the contractor's proposal for the remaining work between spans P6 and P9.

During the review, the Secretary issued strict instructions that the entire bridge construction project be completed within the stipulated period of 18 months. The work program and milestones must be immediately received from the contractor, and progress must be reviewed on a weekly basis.

The total length of the project's approach road is 20.3 km, with a target completion date of May 2026. Work is underway on all projects except the ROB Pasraha, as per the target.

Secretary Mr. Pankaj Kumar Pal directed the contractor to expedite the work by ensuring adequate deployment of resources to complete all project tasks within the stipulated timeframe. He clarified that no compromise on the quality of construction work will be acceptable.
