Thousands Queue Before Dawn as Zubeen Garg’s Final Film ‘Roi Roi Binale’ Opens to Emotional Full Houses Across Assam

In an unprecedented move, thousands of people started queuing up before the cinema halls across Assam as early as 3:30 am today as Zubeen Garg's last film, Roi Roi Binale was released across the country.
Most of the cinema halls in the state hosted the first show as early as 4:25 am, recording a full house. The majority of the cinema halls registered advanced bookings for the next two weeks.
The film opened in theatres across 46 cities in India, including 91 screens in the Northeast - 85 of them in Assam - with over 585 daily shows scheduled for the next seven days.
Nationwide, it is playing on 92 screens with over 150 daily shows.
In many cinema halls across the state, the audience, who could book tickets for the first day show in advance, queued up before the cinema halls around 3:30 am to enter the halls to have a glimpse of their heartthrob on the silver screen.
Most of the cinema halls also paid a befitting tribute by putting up Zubeen's photographs and lighting up ceremonial lamps to show their mark of respect to the iconic singer, who died in Singapore on September 19 under mysterious circumstances.
The chorus of "Joy Zubin da" and "Justice for Zubeen Garg" reverberated across the cinema halls as the audience enjoyed the cinema with tears in their eyes.
"We cried a lot during the movie. Roi Roi Binale became the best movie made by Zubeen Garg. Unfortunately, we are not going to get this kind of movie from Zubeen da again," said a fan of Zubeen who had enjoyed the movie at Matrix cinema hall in Guwahati.
Director Rajesh Bhuyan, overwhelmed by the response, shared his gratitude, saying, “It’s heartwarming to see people gathering at 4:30 in the morning. For us, the greatest reward is the audience’s love. Roi Roi Binale no longer belongs to us, it belongs to the people.”
For the first time, an Assamese film is being shown in cities such as Lucknow, Pune, Dehradun, Jamshedpur, Patna, Dhanbad, Jhansi, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Jaipur, Goa, and Indore.
Roi Roi Binale is the first musical movie made in Assam. Director of the film Rajesh Bhuyan said that it is a dream project of Zubeen. "Zubeen wanted to make a musical film against the violence in movies everywhere. This is the reason why we have 11 songs in the film. No one has made such a movie in Assam before Zubeen," Bhuyan said.
