UP Mango Festival: Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak Bats for Modern Tech, Market Access to Boost Farmer Income

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Saturday highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s leadership in mango production and reaffirmed the state government's commitment to empowering horticulture farmers. He said the goal is to equip farmers with scientific knowledge, modern agricultural techniques, and better market access to help double their incomes, speaking at the technical session of the Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2025 at Avadh Shilpgram.

Pathak noted that the festival is more than just a celebration of the state’s diverse mango varieties—it's a platform to push innovation, improve quality, and expand export potential. “The mango festival is not just about showcasing the taste and variety of our mangoes. It is about empowering our farmers, promoting innovation in horticulture, and creating new avenues of income for growers,” he said.

Joined by Horticulture Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh, the deputy CM toured the exhibition featuring popular mango varieties like Dussehri, Langra, Chausa, Totapari, Amrapali, and Mallika, along with many local and hybrid types. They interacted with growers, discussing cultivation methods, technical hurdles, and market challenges.

During the event, Pathak also felicitated several farmers who had been selected for their innovative farming practices and significant contributions to mango cultivation. He presented them with certificates and mementoes, praising their efforts. “Despite limited resources, these farmers have embraced new techniques and strengthened their livelihoods. They are an inspiration to others,” he said.

Pathak further added that the state government is providing support to mango farmers through initiatives like cold storage facilities, training programmes, and financial assistance, aiming to create a stronger, more resilient horticulture sector in the state.
