Violence Erupts During Dularchand Yadav’s Funeral in Mokama; Stone-Pelting and Firing Reported

Violence broke out in Mokama during the funeral procession of Dularchand Yadav. A mob pelted the hearse with bricks and stones and opened fire. The incident created chaos at the scene. A large number of police and security personnel were deployed to control the situation. Police stated that the situation is tense but under control.
Dularchand Murder Case: Firing at Dularchand's Funeral Procession
On Thursday, Jan Swaraj Party leader Dularchand Yadav was shot and crushed to death in broad daylight in Mokama, Bihar, due to an election rivalry. Following the post-mortem, the funeral procession was heading to the cremation ground on Friday when violence erupted, followed by stone-pelting and firing.
Demand for Justice Amid Tension in Mokama
The entire area is in turmoil following Dularchand Yadav's murder. Following Dularchand Yadav's murder, his body remained at home overnight, and at around 11 a.m. on Friday, thousands of people attended his funeral procession. Shops across the area remained closed, and people chanted slogans demanding justice.
Mokama Turned into a Police Cantonment
The deceased's family and villagers allege that the incident was a conspiracy perpetrated by supporters of JDU candidate Anant Singh. Following the murder, tensions in the area escalated to such an extent that police were forced to camp in several villages. Police have been camping in the area since Dularchand Yadav's murder. The entire area has been turned into a cantonment, and Central Police Forces have been deployed.
