Wall Collapse Under Masoodpur Flyover Prompts Traffic Advisory in Delhi After Heavy Rains

The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory on Saturday after a wall collapsed at an under-construction Delhi Metro site beneath the Masoodpur flyover near Vasant Kunj.
In a statement, the traffic police said, “A wall of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s under-construction underground site near D-6, Vasant Kunj, under the Masoodpur Flyover, has collapsed.” They added that the incident led to a portion of the Mahipalpur–Mehrauli Road, heading from Fortis Hospital towards Mahipalpur, caving in.
As a result, traffic movement in the area has been severely impacted. Commuters travelling from Mehrauli towards Mahipalpur have been advised to take an alternative route via Aruna Asaf Ali Marg—starting from Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj— to avoid the affected stretch.
The incident occurred after a night of intense rainfall across Delhi and the surrounding NCR region, which caused widespread waterlogging and traffic snarls in several parts of the city. Areas including Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, RK Puram, Moti Bagh, and Kidwai Nagar reported significant water accumulation.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), which had initially issued a red alert for the city, later downgraded it to a yellow alert. The rainfall began late Friday night around 11 pm and continued through Saturday morning.
Delhi’s primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded 78.7 mm of rainfall over 24 hours till 8:30 am Saturday. Other rain gauges reported even higher figures—Pragati Maidan recorded 100 mm, Lodhi Road 80 mm, Pusa 69 mm, and Palam 31.8 mm.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as the city continues to deal with the impact of the downpour.
