When asked in Spain about India’s national language, Kanimozhi replied...

DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, leading an all-party delegation to Spain as part of India’s outreach efforts following Operation Sindoor, was asked about India’s national language. She replied by saying that India’s national language is “Unity in Diversity,” emphasizing this as the core message her delegation wants to share with the world.
“The national language of India is unity and diversity. That’s the message this delegation brings to the world, and it’s the most important thing today,” she said in response to a question from a member of the Indian diaspora in Madrid.
Her remarks come at a time when there’s been a lot of back-and-forth between the DMK government in Tamil Nadu and the central government over language issues, especially around the three-language formula in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
When asked about terrorism, Kanimozhi stressed that India has a lot of work to do but is being distracted by unnecessary conflict. “We have to deal with terrorism and war, which are absolutely unnecessary,” she said. She also reassured that India is a safe country and that the government is committed to keeping Kashmir safe.
“As Indians, we must make it clear that India is safe. No matter what others try, they cannot derail us. We will ensure Kashmir remains a safe place,” she added.
Spain marks the final stop on the five-nation tour led by Kanimozhi, after which the delegation will return to India. The team includes MPs from various parties: Samajwadi Party’s Rajeev Kumar Rai, BJP’s Brijesh Chowta, AAP’s Ashok Mittal, RJD’s Prem Chand Gupta, and former diplomat Manjeev Singh Puri.
