Yogi Orders SIT Probe into Noida Software Engineer’s Death

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the death of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta in Noida, ordering a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a fair, transparent, and time-bound probe into the incident.

The SIT comprises the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut, Additional Director General (ADG) of Meerut Zone, and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD). The team, headed by ADG Meerut Zone, has been directed to submit a detailed report to the state government within five days.

The 27-year-old software engineer died after his car plunged into a water-filled pit at a construction site in Sector 150 in the early hours of January 17.

The government has made it clear that if negligence is found at any level during the investigation, strict action will be taken against those responsible. The Chief Minister has also instructed officials to ensure justice for the victim’s family and take effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

Based on a complaint filed by Yuvraj Mehta’s father, Rajkumar Mehta, an FIR has been registered against two builders at the Knowledge Park police station. It has been alleged that serious negligence was committed in construction work and safety standards which led to the fatal accident.

The police have registered the case and initiated an investigation, examining all aspects of the incident in detail. At the departmental level, action has also been taken, and the Junior Engineer (JE) concerned has been suspended with immediate effect on charges of negligence.

Following the incident, there is an atmosphere of anger in the area. Family members and local residents are demanding the arrest of the culprits and strict punishment. The administration has assured the people that the investigation will be impartial and that no guilty person will be spared.
