Yusuf Pathan Withdraws from ‘Terror Outreach’ Delegation, TMC Blames Centre

Trinamool Congress MP Yusuf Pathan will not be part of the Indian government’s 'Operation Sindoor' outreach initiative—a global campaign aimed at exposing Pakistan’s support for terrorism. Pathan, the MP from Baharampur, was named by the Centre as part of an all-party parliamentary delegation set to visit 30 countries.

However, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has strongly objected to the move, saying the Centre added Pathan's name without consulting the party. “How can the Union Government decide who represents Trinamool? There should have been discussions with the opposition. How can the BJP choose our representative?” said TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

The government’s multi-party delegation, which includes seven groups led by one MP each, is part of a broader diplomatic effort to counter global misinformation and reinforce India’s stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism.

But sources within the TMC have confirmed that neither Pathan nor any other party MP will be part of these foreign visits. The party has chosen to distance itself from the exercise.

“TMC has always put the nation above everything else. We support the Union government in all necessary actions to safeguard our country. Our Armed Forces have made us proud, and we are forever grateful,” TMC sources said. “That said, foreign policy is solely the Union government’s domain. They should take full responsibility for it, including choosing their own representatives for such global engagements.”
