PM Modi Marks Civil Services Day By Handing Out Awards For Excellence In Public Administration

Calling upon the government system to "nurture, unleash and support the capability of the society", Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday, "There should be a change in the life of the common people in the country, their life should be easy and they should also be able to feel this ease." It was while conferring the Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration on the occasion of Civil Services Day 2022 that PM Modi hoped that civil servants needed to "handhold at every stage in the common man's journey of Sapna (dream) to Sankalp (resolve) to Siddhi (completion)." https://twitter.com/narendramodi/status/1517023011379224576?t=_XyDBhYx-UA66GS_l2i0lg&s=19 Calling himself a proponent of ‘Janniiti' instead of ‘Rajniti', the Prime Minister began the Day's celebrations by greeting all the "Karamyogis" and suggesting all the awardees' experiences to be shared virtually with all the training academies. The award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi where Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister P. K. Mishra, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba were among the participants. While recalling his two decades long experience of interacting with Civil Servants, the PM called it a mutual learning experience for himself. Reminding those present that 2022 was the year of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", he advised administrators to get in touch with their predecessors at the state and district levels and benefit from the experiences of their seniors. He said that doing so would be "an appropriate way of honouring the civil service in the year of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav." He also said, "India @100 can't be routine. This 25-year period should be seen as a unit and we should have a vision from now onwards itself. This celebration should be a watershed." He was of the opinion that every district in the country must move ahead with the same spirit as its guiding force. Finally, sharing his purpose as the "Pradhan Sewak" of the Indian public, PM Modi said, "I want to live every moment so that I can serve and help other to live well." Photo-Social Media
