Eight Congress MPs Suspended from Lok Sabha Over Paper-Throwing Incident

Eight Congress MPs were suspended from Lok Sabha on Tuesday for the remainder of the session after chaos erupted over Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi being barred from mentioning an article based on excerpts from former Army Chief MM Naravane's unpublished memoir.
The MPs were suspended for "unruly behaviour" including tearing papers and throwing them at the Chair.
Resolution Moved Against Opposition MPs
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju moved a resolution citing serious misconduct by the Congress members.
"This House has taken a serious note of the misconduct of members in utter disregard to the House and the authority of the Chair through reaching to the table of the Secretary General and other officers in the well of the House and throwing papers on the Chair," Rijiju stated.
The House passed the resolution by voice vote, following which Speaker in the Chair Dilip Saikia announced the suspensions under Rule 374(2).
Suspended MPs
The eight Congress members suspended for the remainder of the session are:
Manickam Tagore
Amarinder Singh Raja Warring
Gurjeet Singh Aujla
Hibi Eden
Prashant Padole
C. Kiran Kumar Reddy

Memoir Controversy Triggers Standoff
An hour before the suspensions, Gandhi had authenticated a copy of an article citing Naravane's unpublished memoir in the Lok Sabha. As he rose to speak on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address, Gandhi cited the Speaker's Monday ruling and attempted to reference the authenticated document.
The Opposition leader's attempt to quote from the article sparked objections from Treasury benches, leading to the confrontation that resulted in the suspensions.
Protest Outside Parliament
Congress members, led by Gandhi, staged a protest outside the Parliament building against the suspension of their colleagues.
