Guest Worker Dies During TVK Executives Meeting in Salem

A 37-year-old guest worker from Maharashtra suddenly died during the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) executives meeting held near Seelanaickkanpatty in Salem city on Friday.
The man, identified as Siraj, had been residing in Salem for the past 20 years after moving from Maharashtra with his wife, son, and daughter.
According to Annadhanapatty Police, Siraj was a silver ring maker who also worked in construction. He had been unwell for the past year and had undergone heart surgery.
"During the event, Siraj lay in front of the ground for a long time, fainted and fell down," the officer said.
He was immediately taken by ambulance to Manima, a private hospital near Seelanaickkanpatty, where he was declared brought dead.
Police from Annadhanapatty station recovered the body and sent it to Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for postmortem examination.
The officer said the exact cause of death would be ascertained only after the postmortem report.
A case has been registered and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
Siraj, originally from Maharashtra, had made Salem his home two decades ago. He resided at Sivasakthi Nagar in Seelanaickkanpatty and was attending the TVK party meeting when the incident occurred.
TVK is the political party founded by actor Vijay, which has been conducting organizational meetings across Tamil Nadu ahead of future electoral participation.
