Suspended BJP MLAs Protest by Selling Sand Outside Jharkhand Assembly, Criticize Government’s Sand Policy

A unique scene of protest was seen outside the Jharkhand Assembly on the last day of the monsoon session. The suspended MLAs of the opposition protested by selling sand, opposing the sand policy of the government. The suspended BJP MLAs reached the House with sand and scales. The suspended BJP MLAs, alleging black marketing of sand in the state, said that the announcement made by the government regarding free sand is completely baseless and it is not possible to get its benefit. In such a situation, to show the mirror to the state government, the suspended MLAs are protesting by selling sand outside the House.

During the protest, MLA Neera Yadav started selling sand by weighing it on a scale for rupees 100 per kg on the other hand, BJP MLA Shashi Bhushan Mehta reached the Assembly with a basket of sand on his head. He had kept the rate of sand at rupees 1000 per kg. BJP MLAs said that the state government's plan to give sand for free is completely baseless and the opposition completely opposes it.

Outside the Jharkhand assembly, on one side the suspended BJP MLAs kept selling sand, while on the other side, the ministers of the government kept passing by the same route. Overall, the ruling party and the opposition were seen taking jibes at each other. Meanwhile, Minister Hafizul Hasan, who was passing by, said that first the central government should return the state government's dues of Rs 1 lakh 36 thousand. He said that there is no shortage of sand in the state.

On the other side, there was a competition between MLA Neera Yadav and MLA Shashi Bhushan Mehta to sell sand. Neera Yadav said that her sand is good sand from the Subarnarekha River, despite this she is selling it for rupees 100 per kg. On the other hand, BJP MLA Shashi Bhushan Mehta said that he is bringing sand from the Koel River and selling it here. Since money has to be paid to many police stations while bringing sand on the way, his sand is a little expensive.
