Vivek Anbusezhiyan Set to Contest from Madurai Central on TVEK Ticket Amid Candidate Rush

With just 29 days remaining for the Assembly elections, political activity has intensified across Tamil Nadu, with parties accelerating candidate selection and finalising their electoral strategies. Amid this backdrop, fresh indications suggest that Vivek Anbusezhiyan, son of noted financier Anbusezhiyan, is set to contest from the Madurai Central constituency representing TVEK.
Anbusezhiyan, who maintains cordial relations with both the DMK and AIADMK circles, has triggered considerable surprise in political quarters by pushing his son into active politics at this juncture.
Candidate selection across parties has gathered pace. While Naam Tamilar Katchi has already unveiled its candidates, announcements from the DMK and AIADMK are expected shortly. In parallel, TVEK’s candidate list is understood to be ready.
Actor-turned-politician Vijay, who is spearheading TVEK, has reportedly completed interviews for 115 candidates. While prominent faces from the party are expected to contest from Chennai, Madurai has seen heightened interest among aspirants. Names such as Kallani, Thangapandi, and Marudupandian are already said to be confirmed candidates.
Additionally, Thenmozhi Prasanna, widely recognised as a prominent woman face in Madurai, is also believed to have secured a nomination, generating enthusiasm among party workers.
In this evolving scenario, Vivek Anbusezhiyan’s entry adds a new dimension. Sources indicate that despite past strains in family relations—reportedly due to his marriage against family preferences—Anbusezhiyan is now extending full support to his son’s political ambitions.
Anbusezhiyan continues to oversee his business interests, including the Gopuram theatre and financial and production operations, through his daughter Swetha. However, the current move signals a shift, with the family now stepping into the political arena.
Efforts to promote Vivek’s candidature are already underway through Anbusezhiyan’s network of supporters. Once the official candidate list is released, Vivek is expected to actively engage in constituency-level activities.
With Anbusezhiyan’s office located in Madurai Central and his long-standing presence in the area, supporters believe this could translate into electoral advantage, positioning Vivek Anbusezhiyan as a strong contender in the constituency.
