Fit India Carnival 2026 Held at SAI Patna; Bihar Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh Calls for Daily Fitness

Patna: The Sports Authority of India (SAI), Patna on Sunday organised the Fit India Carnival 2026, bringing together athletes, sports associations and fitness enthusiasts in a public outreach aimed at encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.



Bihar’s Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh attended the event as the chief guest. She was received by Someshwar Rao Chavan, Centre Head of the Sports Authority of India, Patna, who welcomed her with a bouquet and shawl at the venue.

Among those present on the occasion were M. Ramachandrudu, IAS, Director of Census; Ajay Kumar, President of the Bihar Olympic Association; and Rakesh Acharya from Haridwar, who attended as special guests.

Addressing the gathering, Singh urged citizens to adopt regular physical activity as part of their daily routine, saying that basic fitness practices are essential for a healthy and active life.

“Fit India is not merely a campaign but a people’s movement towards building a healthy and strong nation,” the Sports Minister said. “Sports and physical activity must become an integral part of our everyday lives. Initiatives like this help create awareness about fitness and motivate young people to take up sports.”

The programme began with a Zumba session that saw enthusiastic participation from people across different age groups. The formal inauguration followed with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp after the guests were welcomed on stage.

Athletes presented demonstrations in disciplines such as Taekwondo, Wushu and Yoga during the carnival. Several sports associations also conducted road demonstrations to promote sports and encourage wider public engagement.

Stalls showcasing a range of sporting disciplines and fitness activities were set up at the venue. These included Mallakhamb, Gymnastics, Atya-Patya, Skating, Basketball, Taekwondo, Wushu, Sepak Takraw, Yogasana, Zumba and a Mini Gym section for visitors.

After the inauguration, Singh visited the various stalls and demonstration areas, interacting with athletes and participants and encouraging them in their sporting pursuits.

Officials said the Fit India Carnival concluded with strong public participation, reinforcing the broader Fit India Movement and its message of adopting regular exercise and a healthier lifestyle.
