Governor Arif Mohammad Khan Unveils Hockey Junior World Cup 2025 Trophy at Patna’s Raj Bhavan

In the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, His Excellency Arif Mohammad Khan, the Governor of Bihar, formally welcomed and unveiled the trophy of 'Hockey Men's Junior World Cup 2025', which reached Patna on a trophy journey, by lighting the lamp in a traditional manner. On this occasion, Principal Secretary to Governor Mr. RL Chongthu, Additional Chief Secretary of Sports Department Dr. B. Rajender, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Bihar State Sports Authority Mr. Rabindran Sankaran, Director of Sports Department Mr. Mahendra Kumar were also present on this occasion. By giving a memorial to Dr. B. Rajender honored.
Giving information about Hockey Men's Junior World Cup 2025 and trophy travel, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Bihar State Sports Authority Mr. Ravindran Sankaran said that.
This historic occasion is a moment of great joy and pride for the whole of Bihar, especially for our glorious city of Patna. Hockey Men's Junior World Cup 2025—the 14th edition of which is going to be held from November 28 to December 10 in Chennai and Madurai in Tamil Nadu.
It is also very remarkable that this year 24 best teams of the world are participating in this competition, due to which the dignity and level of competition of this event has become even higher.
Also, another important aspect of the occasion is the FIH Junior Men's Hockey World Cup 2025 trophy tour. This journey, which started from New Delhi on November 7, is a unique effort to awaken the spirit of sportsmanship across the country, increase enthusiasm for hockey among the youth and bring this global event to the hearts of every Indian. The tour will pass through 20 cities and will conclude on November 20 in Kerala.
We are proud that Patna is included in these 20 selected cities—which in itself is a testament to Bihar's growing sports culture, the energy of its youth, and our state's growing international sports identity.
This wonderful trophy present here today is attractive, unique and a symbol of the dignity of world hockey which is not only a mark of sporting achievement but also a bright symbol of dreams, hard work and future of millions of young players of the country.
Hockey Men's Junior World Cup has been organized in our country 4 times in the past and India has hoisted its flag on the world stage by winning this prestigious trophy twice in 2001 and 2016. On behalf of all of us, we wish the organizers of this World Cup, International Hockey Federation, Hockey India, Government of Tamil Nadu, all the players and coaches, our best wishes and we hope that our young players perform well this time and give India the glory of victory again, and this golden cup once again comes to our country.
From the Raj Bhavan, the trophy reached the Patliputra Sports Complex through various places in Patna, where a crowd of players and common people gathered to see it closely.
Along with the presentation of the trophy at Pataliputra Sports Complex Stadium, a 'Passing the Ball' program was organized in which the Director General of Sports Authority Mr. Sankaran encouraged the players by passing the hockey ball along with the promising young players of Bihar, coaches, officials of Bihar State Sports Authority and officials of Bihar Hockey Association.
