IPL 2025, GT vs LSG Live: Titans Eye Qualifier 1 Spot with Top-Two Finish

The playoff picture in IPL 2025 is officially set — the top four teams are locked in. But with seven group stage matches still to play, the focus now shifts to the all-important race for the top two spots. That upper tier offers a second shot at the final, and all four teams will be eyeing it. Among them, the Gujarat Titans (GT) look best placed to clinch one of those coveted positions.

GT are preparing to host the struggling Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and a win tonight would put them within touching distance of a top-two finish. They’ve been one of the most consistent sides this season, and with back-to-back home games — against LSG and then Chennai Super Kings (CSK) — they control their own destiny. If they continue the form they’ve shown so far, GT could be heading into the playoffs with serious momentum and the cushion of a home-ground advantage in the qualifier or even the final.

It’s shaping up to be a fierce finish, though, with Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also pushing hard for the top two. All three teams have two matches left and are confident in their chances. But GT’s path looks the simplest on paper — and that’s exactly how they’ll want to keep it. Stay focused, keep winning, and give themselves every opportunity for another deep playoff run.

For LSG, the story is quite different. What started as a promising campaign has unraveled dramatically. Four straight losses have seen them slide from playoff hopefuls to also-rans. With matches against GT and RCB left, they’ll want to end on a high note — if not for points, then at least for pride.

A major factor in LSG’s dip has been the decline in Nicholas Pooran’s form. He began the season with fireworks but has fizzled out just as the team needed him most. And then there’s Rishabh Pant — the marquee captain signing who has simply not fired. It’s been a nightmare of a season for him, and while it may be too late to salvage 2025, these last two games could be vital in rebuilding confidence heading into next year.

GT will be wary, though. LSG got the better of them in the reverse fixture in Lucknow, so the threat is real — especially from a team with nothing to lose and the firepower to cause an upset.
