MS Dhoni Becomes Certified Drone Pilot, Adds New Chapter to His Post-Cricket Journey

Former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has added a new feather to his cap — this time outside the cricket field. Known for his calm demeanor, leadership, and love for the Indian Army and motorcycles, Dhoni has now become a certified drone pilot.

While Dhoni has always maintained a low profile and kept his personal life away from the limelight, he continues to pursue his passions with quiet determination. His interest in technology and innovation recently took center stage as he earned his drone pilot license from a DGCA-approved training institute.

Garuda Aerospace, one of India’s leading drone manufacturing companies, confirmed that Dhoni completed his training at their Remote Pilot Training Organisation in Chennai. Dhoni is not just the company’s brand ambassador but also an investor.

“Having our brand ambassador and investor, MS Dhoni, personally undergo the training and get certified as a pilot is a monumental milestone for us. He picked it up very quickly and was extremely focused on learning,” said Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace. He added, “Mahi Bhai is an inspiration, and his hands-on approach validates our commitment to skill and innovation in this sector.”

Dhoni's connection to national service is well known. In 2011, he was awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army’s Parachute Regiment. In 2019, he served with his battalion in Jammu and Kashmir for 15 days, participating in patrol and guard duties. He later completed five parachute jumps from a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft to become a qualified paratrooper.

On the cricket field, Dhoni's legacy is unparalleled. Since making his debut in 2004, he became the only captain in international cricket history to win all three ICC white-ball trophies — the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Although he retired from international cricket in 2020, he continues to play in the Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings.

With 278 IPL matches under his belt, Dhoni has scored 5,439 runs, including 24 half-centuries and 237 sixes. He has led CSK to five IPL titles, further cementing his status as one of the most successful and respected captains in the game's history.

Now, with his drone pilot certification, Dhoni has once again shown that his thirst for learning and exploration goes well beyond cricket.
