Rohit Sharma Hints at Possible Farewell to Australia After Match-Winning Century at SCG

Rohit Sharma, who scored a match-wining century in the third and final ODI at the SCG, hinted at a possible farewell to Australia here today, reflecting on his career Down Under after being named Player of the Match and Player of the Series at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

"I don't know if we're going to come back as cricketers, but I've enjoyed every bit," Rohit said, acknowledging the uncertainty of future tours while highlighting the joy and fulfillment he has experienced playing the game.

His comments suggest this could be his final appearance in Australia, though no official confirmation has been made.

The India opener, who led the team with exemplary skill and temperament, emphasised the importance of nurturing the next generation. "This is a young team, and many haven't played in Australia before. When I first toured here, the seniors guided me. Now it's our turn to do the same," he said.

Despite India losing the three-match series 1-2, Rohit remained optimistic about the talent and potential in the squad.

He also spoke about the value of preparation, planning, and sticking to basics. "You've got to understand the situation, understand the conditions and see what best you can do," Rohit said, highlighting the challenge of Australian conditions and the need for adaptability.

Recalling his first tour of Australia in 2008, Rohit said the SCG has always held a special place in his career. He also acknowledged teammate Virat Kohli, noting their shared love for playing at the venue.

"Forget about what happened in the last 15 years, I've always loved playing here. I think it'll be the same for Virat as well," he added,.

Closing his reflections, Rohit expressed gratitude to the Australian cricketing community. "Thank you, Australia," he concluded, underlining his respect and appreciation for the fans and the experience of playing at one of cricket's iconic venues.
