Two Bihar Fencers Selected as 'Khelo India Athletes' for High Performance Training

In fencing, two players from Bihar, Keshar Raj and Ravi Kumar Yadav, have been selected as 'Khelo India Athletes'.

Giving this information, Director General cum Chief Executive Officer of Bihar State Sports Authority, Ravindra Shankar said that under the Khelo India Scheme of Sports Authority of India, on the recommendation of the experts and selectors of the Talent Search Committee, 8 excellent players of the country have been selected as Khelo India Athletes in fencing, out of which two players from Bihar are Keshar Raj and Ravi Kumar Yadav. This is a matter of great happiness and pride for Bihar. Keshar Raj has been selected for the 'Foil' of fencing and Ravi Kumar Yadav for the 'EP' mode.

Both the selected players will start getting the facility of residential training, sports equipment, health insurance etc. in Khelo India's High Performance Center from June 4, 2025.

Recently, Ravi Kumar Yadav of Motihari, Bihar won the bronze medal in the EP event in the fencing event of Khelo India Youth Games 2025 held in Rajgir, Bihar from 4 to 15 May. He won two medals at the national level in the year 2024-25. He won the silver medal in the EP singles event of fencing in the 68th School Games Under-17 National Fencing Competition held in Jammu and Kashmir and the bronze medal in the Under-17 National Fencing Competition organized by the Indian Fencing Association in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. He has also represented India in the Cadet World Championship and Cadet Asian Championship in the same year. Keshar Raj of Motihari won the gold medal in the foil singles event of fencing in the 68th National School Fencing Under-14 Competition, Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, she has won the bronze medal in the Under-14 National Fencing Competition organized by the Indian Fencing Association in Cuttack, Odisha and the gold medal in the Khelo India Asmita League. She has also won a bronze medal in the Under-14 National Fencing Competition in the year 2023-24.

Both the players have been trainee players of the District Fencing Training Center run in the Sports Bhavan of Motihari and are currently receiving training at the National Center of Excellence, Guwahati
