THDC India Limited Honored with Prestigious CSR Times Award for Water Conservation Excellence

Rishikesh- In a remarkable achievement, THDC India Limited, led by Chairman and Managing Director Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, has been awarded the esteemed CSR Times Award for its exceptional dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly focusing on 'Water Conservation and Management.' The prestigious award ceremony, held at the 10th National CSR Summit & CSR Times Award, 2023, was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel. Dr. Laszlo Makk, Deputy Head of Mission, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Hungary, had the privilege of presenting the award.

Sh. Vishnoi expressed his pride in THDC India Limited's outstanding efforts in the realm of water conservation and environmental management, emphasizing the transformative impact on rural villages in Tehri Garhwal. These initiatives have not only garnered appreciation but have also significantly improved water availability, thereby alleviating the financial and physical burdens of villagers.

Sh. Vishnoi further highlighted the recognition and commendation received from the event's jury members and chief guest for THDCIL's unwavering commitment to addressing acute water scarcity issues within its operational region. In response to dire warnings about water crisis severity from the UNDP, THDCIL initiated its CSR-driven 'Water Conservation and Management' project, carried out through its sponsored society 'SEWA-THDC.' Remarkable achievements under this initiative include the construction of 972 rainwater harvesting tanks, 2282 water recharge pits, 610 water trenches, 70 check dams, and 63 Chal-Khal structures. These endeavors have not only mitigated water scarcity during lean seasons but have also revitalized Pratapnagar and Bhilangana Blocks of Tehri district.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDCIL, shed light on the organization's multifaceted CSR initiatives. In addition to water conservation, THDCIL actively engages in healthcare by operating allopathic and homeopathic dispensaries in areas affected by its projects, conducting medical camps to prioritize the health and well-being of local communities. Education is another cornerstone, with schools tailored for marginalized children, and training programs and scholarships for skill development aimed at empowering disadvantaged youths.

Empowerment, particularly of women, is central to THDCIL's CSR efforts, encompassing computer training, tailoring programs, beautician courses, and various livelihood activities. The company also supports the agricultural sector by providing farmers with fruit saplings, vegetable seeds, polyhouses, and training to enhance agricultural practices and yields.
