Chinese mother sold her two sons for \$11,600, spending all the money on livestream tipping and shopping

A 26-year-old woman from China, known as Huang, has been sentenced to over five years in prison for selling both her baby boys to fund her addiction to tipping livestream hosts.
Struggling financially with little education and no support, Huang moved to Fuzhou and worked odd jobs. In 2020, after giving birth to her first son and unable to care for him, she sold the baby for around -$6,300 to a relative who couldn’t have children. She spent the money on online gifts for livestreamers.
When that money ran out, Huang deliberately had a second child in 2022, whom she sold for about -$5,300. The buyer later resold the child for roughly -$14,000. Huang again spent the money on luxury items and online tipping.
Authorities found out in April 2022 after investigating messages on her phone. Both children were rescued and placed in care, waiting for adoption.
In July, Huang was sentenced to five years and two months in prison for fraud and child trafficking, plus fined about -$4,000. The buyer got a suspended nine-month sentence, and Huang’s landlord received seven months in jail.
