Final Israeli Hostage Recovered from Gaza, Paving Way for Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

US President Donald Trump celebrated the return of the final deceased Israeli hostage from Gaza, calling the operation an “amazing job” and expressing astonishment at what many had considered impossible.

“Just recovered the last Hostage body in GAZA. Thus, got back ALL 20 of the living Hostages, and ALL of the Dead! AMAZING JOB! Most thought of it as an impossible thing to do. Congratulations to my great team of Champions!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, highlighted the extensive coordination behind the retrieval. He praised the collaboration between the US, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, and “many cooperative Gazans” who helped locate and return the deceased hostages.

“Coordination and trust were built between individuals and organizations where none previously existed. This produced tangible results,” Kushner wrote on X. He added that the effort is part of a broader mission to help Gaza transition away from Hamas’ control and prevent future violence, while addressing sources of division and antisemitism.

“This is an end, but also a new beginning,” Kushner said, emphasizing the humanitarian and peace-building goals of the initiative.

The Israeli military confirmed the recovery of Sgt. 1st Class Ran Gvili’s remains on Monday, marking the return of all hostages from Gaza. This announcement followed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement that Israel would reopen the Rafah border crossing with Egypt after Gvili’s body was recovered.

The retrieval of Gvili’s remains clears the way for the second phase of the Trump administration’s 20-point Gaza peace plan. This phase includes reopening the Rafah crossing for passenger travel and increased humanitarian aid, establishing a Palestinian technocratic committee to govern Gaza, and deploying an international stabilization force to maintain security and support the transition.
