Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee (via 9to5Mac) sheds light on potential U.S. pricing for the next-generation devices—offering a preview of what consumers might expect before Apple makes it official.

The iPhone 17 series is expected to include four models:

iPhone 17

iPhone 17 Air (a possible replacement for the “Plus”)

iPhone 17 Pro

iPhone 17 Pro Max

Here’s how pricing could shape up, based on current estimates:

iPhone 17: Likely to start at -$799, matching the iPhone 16's entry price.

iPhone 17 Air: Could be priced between -$899 and -$949, potentially a -$50 increase over the previous Plus model.

iPhone 17 Pro: Expected to begin at -$1,099, which would be a -$100 jump—notably crossing the -$999 mark for the first time since the iPhone X debuted in 2017.

iPhone 17 Pro Max: Projected to remain at -$1,199, unchanged from last year.

While the potential price hike for the Pro model might raise eyebrows, it may be due to a bump in base storage—from 128GB to 256GB—rather than a straightforward increase. Essentially, Apple could be removing the lowest-tier option instead of hiking prices across the board.

For most buyers, there’s good news: both the standard iPhone 17 and the Pro Max are expected to retain their current pricing, while the iPhone 17 Air might see only a modest bump.

Apple has historically maintained consistent iPhone pricing in the U.S., even amid speculation about potential increases. For reference, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 launched with the same starting prices:

-$899 for the Plus

-$999 for the Pro

-$1,199 for the Pro Max

However, the story is different in markets like India, where Apple’s pricing has always been steeper. The iPhone 16, for instance, starts at ₹79,900, with the Pro Max priced at ₹1,44,900.
