PM Modi Arrives in Jordan on Two-Day Visit, Receives Ceremonial Welcome in Amman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed by Jordanian Prime Minister Jaffar Hassan at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman as he arrived on a two-day working visit to Jordan.
PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the airport, with a guard of honor as a band played the national anthems of the two countries.
The Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Ya'rub Qudah, and Amman Governor Yasser Adwan were also present to welcome the Indian leader.
The Jordanian PM said in a post on X that he was deeply honoured to welcome PM Modi to his country, and that they look forward to broaden the horizon of their bilateral cooperation.
"Today I was honored to receive the Prime Minister of the friendly Republic of India, Narendra Modi, who was a dear guest of Jordan".
"The visit embodies the past seventy-five years of close relations, and we look forward to broader horizons of cooperation between us, especially in the economic, investment and technological aspect,” he posted.
PM Modi thanked the Jordanian PM for the warm welcome at the airport.
“Thankful to Mr. Jafar Hassan, Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the warm welcome at the airport. I am sure this visit will boost bilateral linkages between our nations.”
Later, when the PM arrived at his hotel, the Indian community accorded him an enthusiastic welcome, waving Indian flags, and also presented classical Indian dance performances in his honour in the lobby.
The PM said he was very touched with the warm welcome by the Indian community.
“Deeply touched by the warm welcome extended by the Indian community in Amman. Their affection, pride in India’s progress and strong cultural bonds reflect the enduring connection between India and its diaspora. Also grateful for the role the diaspora continues to play in strengthening India-Jordan relations.”
The Prime Minister’s visit to Jordan comes as the two nations mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between their two countries.
Coincidentally, PM Modi is visiting Jordan as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is also present in the Jordanian capital for talks. Wang Yi held talks with the Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi in Amman.
A Chinese trade delegation is also holding talks in Amman. The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) on Monday hosted bilateral trade talks between Jordanian companies and a delegation from China’s Shandong Province, aimed at strengthening commercial ties and exploring partnership opportunities across key economic sectors.
Earlier, in his departure statement, PM Modi stated that he is visiting Jordan on the invitation of King Abdullah II, and that the visit marks 75 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between their two countries. He is to hold detailed discussions with King Abdullah II, and with PM Jafar Hassan.
“I also look forward to engagements with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. In Amman, I will also meet the vibrant Indian community who have made significant contributions to India–Jordan relations,” he posted.
PM Modi had last visited Jordan in 2018. The Jordan visit is the first leg of his three-nation tour, that will also take him to Ethiopia and to Oman.
