Qatar Airways Flight from Doha to Hong Kong Diverted to Ahmedabad After Mid-Air Technical Glitch

A Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Hong Kong was forced to make an emergency landing at Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Tuesday afternoon after developing a technical issue mid-air.

According to officials cited by PTI, the flight was diverted as a precautionary measure after the crew detected technical irregularities during its journey. The aircraft safely landed in Ahmedabad at approximately 2:40 PM.

"Due to some technical issues mid-air, the Doha-Hong Kong flight of Qatar Airways was diverted to Ahmedabad as a precautionary measure. It landed safely at around 2.40 pm," an airport official confirmed.

A full emergency was declared at the airport ahead of the flight’s arrival to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. The emergency status was officially withdrawn once the plane landed without incident.

“Due to a technical issue on an aircraft en route from Doha (DOH) to Hong Kong (HKG), full emergency was declared on 14 October 2025 at 14:12 hrs at Ahmedabad Airport to enable the aircraft to land,” a spokesperson for the airport said in a statement, adding, “Airport operations remained unaffected.”

No injuries or casualties were reported, and all passengers were safely deboarded after landing. Airport authorities and airline engineers began a thorough inspection of the aircraft immediately after landing. A decision on resuming the flight or arranging alternate transportation for the passengers will be made after the aircraft is fully assessed.

Such precautionary diversions are part of standard aviation safety practices, especially for long-haul international flights. The timely response by the airline crew and coordination with ground authorities ensured a safe outcome for all on board.

Qatar Airways has not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the incident, but is expected to provide further updates once the inspection is completed.
