Ryanair Flight Diverted to Paris After Passenger Eats Passport, Another Tries to Flush Theirs

A Ryanair flight from Milan to London was forced to make an emergency landing in Paris after a bizarre and unsettling incident involving two passengers and their passports. The drama unfolded just 15–20 minutes after takeoff, shortly after the seatbelt sign was turned off.

According to a witness speaking to the New York Post, the strange behavior began at the front of the plane when one man started tearing pages out of his passport—and eating them. As passengers looked on in shock, his companion reportedly ran to the back of the aircraft and attempted to flush his own passport down the toilet.

Flight attendants quickly stepped in to manage the escalating situation. One crew member reportedly pleaded with the man in the lavatory to open the door, but he refused, raising further alarm among passengers. “No one onboard knew what was going on; these people were acting weird,” the witness recalled. “The air hostess then made a public announcement that was so blunt and to the point, it freaked people out to another level.”

With the safety of passengers in question, the pilots made the decision to divert the flight to Paris Beauvais Airport. “It was the most terrifying 15 minutes of my life,” said the witness, describing the plane’s descent into Paris.

Upon landing, French police boarded the aircraft, arrested the two men involved, and conducted a thorough security sweep, including checking all passenger luggage. The process delayed the flight by around two hours before it was cleared to continue its journey to London Stansted Airport.

Despite the disturbing mid-air ordeal, the witness praised Ryanair staff for their professionalism. “I think Ryanair was brilliant in handling it in a certain way,” they said. “They even gave out drinks toward the end of the flight as we were coming in over Stansted. I’m just really f**king glad I landed.”

Authorities have yet to reveal the motives behind the men’s erratic actions or confirm whether they will face further legal consequences.
