Trump Declares Himself “Acting President of Venezuela” After Maduro’s Arrest

US President Donald Trump has once again shocked the world by declaring himself acting President of Venezuela. Trump shared a photo on his social media platform, Truth Social, depicting him as the President of Venezuela.

This development comes amid the political vacuum created by the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, which has intensified the turmoil in international politics.

Nicolás Maduro's Arrest and the Crisis of Power

This situation in Venezuela arose after President Nicolás Maduro was recently arrested during a US military operation and taken to New York on narco-terrorism charges.

Although Vice President Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in as interim President after Maduro's arrest, Trump has directly intervened, declaring himself acting President. He shared an image resembling an edited Wikipedia page, showing his term beginning in January 2026.

Eye on Venezuela's Oil Reserves and Economic Control

Trump has made it clear in his statements that he wants to personally oversee Venezuela's vast oil resources. He argues that Venezuela's oil infrastructure has completely collapsed and that the US will repair it.

Trump stated that oil revenue will be managed under US supervision to ensure that its benefits reach the public and bring stability to the region.

Democratic Transition and International Response

Donald Trump believes that the US will take over Venezuela until fully fair and secure elections are held. This unexpected move has sparked legal and diplomatic debate globally.

While the US administration views this as assistance to Venezuela, many other countries and legal experts around the world are questioning such direct interference in the affairs of a sovereign nation.
