Zendaya Sends Flowers to Anna Sawai After Accidental Met Gala Twinning, Says Stylist Law Roach

When it comes to unforgettable fashion moments, few do it better than Zendaya. Known for her show-stopping red carpet looks, she’s made waves with her style at movie premieres and past Met Galas. But this year, at the biggest fashion event of the year, Zendaya unexpectedly twinned with Shōgun star Anna Sawai—both rocking striking all-white suits. The similarity sparked plenty of online chatter, with fans asking: “Who wore it better?”
Now, Zendaya’s longtime stylist Law Roach is clearing the air.
What Law Roach said
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Law shared that there was no drama behind the matching looks. “I think people thought there was some type of disappointment on our end,” he said. “But Karla Welch—Anna’s stylist—and I have been friends for years. We talked, and Zendaya even sent Anna flowers to celebrate her first Met Gala.”
He went on to say, “There was no disappointment at all. It was just two women paying tribute to different style icons—Anna to Yoko Ono, and Zendaya to Diana Ross and Bianca Jagger. It just happened, and they both looked incredible. They’re beautiful women, and I really hate how people try to pit women or stylists against each other. It was all love.”
About their Met Gala looks
Zendaya wore a custom Louis Vuitton three-piece suit designed by Pharrell Williams, styled by Law Roach. Anna Sawai, meanwhile, arrived in a similar all-white look—a tailored Dior suit accessorized with Cartier jewelry.
The theme of Met Gala 2025, was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, included a specific dress code: The Garden of Time. The exhibit's sub-theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, spotlighted the art of Black tailoring and dandyism, drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion. It was the first Met Gala in over two decades to focus exclusively on menswear.
