Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor to Open on October 21, Marking a New Era of Rapid Transit in India

Update: 2023-10-17 13:05 GMT

India eagerly awaits the grand inauguration of the highly anticipated Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor, with the 17-kilometer priority section set to open its doors to passengers on October 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to inaugurate this monumental achievement in transportation on October 20.

The priority section, stretching from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, is a crucial artery with five stations - Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot - ensuring swift connectivity and accessibility for the region's populace.

Following the inauguration, passenger services are scheduled to commence on the morning of October 21, with 'RAPIDX' trains operational from 6 am to 11 pm. Initially, trains will run at 15-minute intervals, promising a seamless commuting experience. Flexibility is built into the system to increase frequency as per evolving demand in the future.

Dedicated to inclusivity, each 'RAPIDX' train will comprise six coaches, including a premium coach. Women commuters will find a reserved coach adjacent to the premium section, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey. Additionally, designated seats for women, specially-abled individuals, and senior citizens in other coaches reflect a commitment to passenger well-being.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is a testament to collaborative efforts, spearheaded by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in partnership with the central government and the states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. This ambitious project will introduce 'RAPIDX,' a semi-high-speed regional rail service, redefining the way people travel within the region.

With a vision for the future, the entire 82.15-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is slated to be operational by June 2025. As the nation eagerly embraces this transformative development, anticipation runs high for a more efficient, connected, and sustainable future in transportation.

Stay tuned for the monumental inaugural event that will mark a new era of rapid transit in India.
