DSLSA Launches 'Shat Pratishat Kanooni Saksharta' Project for Legal Literacy in Delhi

DSLSA's 'Shat Pratishat Kanooni Saksharta' project to make Delhi legally literate. Inaugural event with Ms. Shail Jain."

The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) is forever committed to its motto ‘Access to Justice for All’ and is taking all possible steps in the direction of expanding its reach to the people at the grassroots.

In furtherance of its motto, DSLSA in collaboration with East District Legal Services Authority launched a Project-‘Shat Pratishat Kanooni Saksharta’. Under this Project, it shall be endeavoured that 100 percent population of Delhi be made legally literate.

 

To kick start this Project, Ghazipur Village Area under the jurisdiction of P.S. Patparganj Industrial Area in East District was selected as the first target area. The population of the area was approximately 35,000 and each individual in the area was reached out to and informed and educated about DLSAs.

 

 

This first segment of the Project was inaugurated on 24.07.2023 at Karkardooma Courts Complex, Delhi in the August presence of Ms. Shail Jain, Ld. Principal District & Session Judge/Chairperson DLSA East. 

Residents of the target area were made legally aware about their rights and about DLSAs through Door to door campaigns led by PLVs, Distribution of pamphlets with information about DLSAs and basic laws, Nukkad nataks at chowrahas and installation of information boards at various places in the area and by holding awareness sessions in schools. 

 

A ‘Culmination Programme’ of this first segment of this Project ‘Shat Pratishat Kanooni Saksharta’ was held on 19.08.2023 at MCD Community Hall, Ghazipur village from 11:00 a.m. onwards wherein the target area, ghazipur village was declared as “The First Ever Shat Pratishat Kanooni Sakshar Khsetra”. Also, a Legal Service Clinic was virtually inaugurated in Ghazipur Village during the programme.

 

 The Hon’ble Mr. Justice Siddharth Mridul, Judge, High Court of Delhi & Hon’ble Executive Chairperson, DSLSA was the Chief Guest of the programme. Ld. Principal District & Sessions Judge (East) Ms. Shail Jain; Ld.Principal District & Session Judges of various districts; Sh. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Ld. Member Secretary, DSLSA; other Secretaries of DSLSA; Ms. Saema Jain, Secretary (East) DLSA and all other Secretaries, DLSA with other distinguished dignitaries also attended the above-said programme.

   

The project was strategically planned with various segments of the society like RWAs, NGOs, schools, district administration, civic authorities and police who were made part of the project. The young children who are future governing agents of the society were reached through schools with dedicated awareness sessions during the school assembly.

 

The programme ended with a message of Hon’ble the Executive Chairperson, DSLSA who has informed that DSLSA is committed to the idea of “Access to Justice to the last man” and hailed it as pratham charan (first step) towards it.
