Arshad Warsi Reveals Rajkumar Hirani Is Finally Working on Munna Bhai 3

Bollywood’s beloved duo, Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, won millions of hearts with their unforgettable chemistry as Munna and Circuit in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. The films not only became massive commercial successes but also achieved cult status in Indian cinema. For years, fans have eagerly awaited the return of the iconic pair in Munna Bhai 3. After years of uncertainty, Arshad Warsi has now given a promising update on the long-delayed project.

In a recent conversation with Screen, Arshad fondly recalled his time working alongside Sanjay Dutt. Speaking about their bond, he said, “Sanju is just mind-blowing, he’s a different kind of talent altogether. It was always fun being around him.” Sharing a humorous anecdote, Arshad revealed how he often had to remind Dutt about the film’s progress. “I’m terrible at remembering scripts, but with Sanju, I had to recall the entire storyline just so I could brief him. Every day he’d ask, ‘Bro, what are we doing today?’ and I’d have to remind him about the scenes we shot yesterday and what comes next. But what happened on screen was pure magic,” he added with a laugh.

When asked about the much-awaited Munna Bhai 3, Arshad finally offered a glimmer of hope. “See, with part 3, earlier it wasn’t happening at all. But now, Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) is seriously working on it. It seems like it should happen now,” he said.

This update comes after years of speculation. Back in 2023, Arshad had expressed doubts about the film ever being made, explaining that director Rajkumar Hirani would only proceed if he was “200% sure about the script.” However, in 2024, Hirani revealed at an event that he had come up with a “unique idea” for the third instalment. “The next part has to be better than the previous films. I finally have an idea that excites me. Of course, after 100 years of cinema, everything’s been said, but I’m working on something fresh,” he shared.

The Munna Bhai franchise, directed by Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, first introduced audiences to Munna — a kind-hearted gangster who enrols in medical school to fulfil his father’s dream. The 2003 hit was followed by Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), which explored Gandhian philosophy in a modern context. Together, the films earned nearly ₹160 crore worldwide and remain cherished classics.

Meanwhile, Arshad Warsi continues to impress audiences with his recent performance in the crime thriller Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas, streaming on ZEE5. He also has several exciting projects lined up, including Welcome To The Jungle, featuring an ensemble cast led by Akshay Kumar, and Dhamaal 4, directed by Indra Kumar, slated for an Eid 2026 release.

With Hirani back at work on Munna Bhai 3, fans may finally get to see the return of the beloved Munna–Circuit duo that defined a generation of Bollywood comedy.
