Diljit Dosanjh has just accomplished an amazing feat: he will be the subject of a course at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)! TMU's Creative School will begin offering a course on Diljit's music, cultural influence, and role in bridging diasporic cultures in the fall of 2026.

Dr. Charlie Wall-Andrews, who’s teaching the course, said, “Diljit’s journey perfectly shows how culture, identity, and music come together on a global stage. His rise shines a light on how Punjabi music isn’t just regional—it’s shaping pop culture worldwide and building creative economies that stay true to their roots.”

Sonali Singh, CEO of Ripple Effects, added, “It’s amazing to see an artist like Diljit being honored like this. His success isn’t just about numbers—it’s about pride, freedom, and representation for Punjabi and South Asian people everywhere. Recognizing him in academia is long overdue, and it shows just how much he’s changing the music scene.”

Diljit began his career in Punjabi music in 2002 and gradually established himself. He even made it onto the Billboard Social 50 chart with his eleventh album, G.O.A.T. In addition to performing music, he has acted in well-known Bollywood movies such as Amar Singh Chamkila, Good Newzz, and Udta Punjab. Additionally, he became the first Punjabi singer to perform at Coachella in 2023.
