Punjabi Singer-Actor Rajvir Jawanda Dies at 35 After Road Accident

The popular artist succumbed to multiple organ failure after battling critical injuries for 12 days; fans and film industry mourn his untimely death

Popular Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda passed away on Wednesday morning at Fortis Hospital in Mohali after battling for his life for nearly 12 days. The 35-year-old artist had been admitted in critical condition following a tragic road accident and was declared dead at 10:55 am, hospital authorities confirmed.

In an official statement, Fortis Hospital said, “Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda passed away at 10:55 AM on October 8, 2025. He was admitted on September 27 in an extremely critical condition following a road accident that resulted in severe spinal injuries and brain damage.” The statement further noted that despite extensive medical efforts and round-the-clock monitoring by the Critical Care and Neurosurgery teams, Jawanda succumbed to multiple organ failure.

The accident took place near Baddi in Himachal Pradesh when Jawanda’s motorcycle collided with stray cattle that suddenly appeared on the road. He sustained serious head and spinal injuries and was immediately placed on life support. Doctors had described his condition as extremely critical from the outset, with minimal brain activity and no significant signs of recovery during his hospital stay.

A resident of Sector 71 in Mohali, Jawanda was a beloved figure in the Punjabi music and film industry. He was known for hit songs such as "Surname", "Kamla", "Mera Dil", "Sardari", and "Khush Reha Kar". In addition to his music career, he also made a mark in Punjabi cinema with roles in films like "Jind Jaan", "Mindo Taseeldarni", and the Gippy Grewal-starrer "Subedar Joginder Singh".

Jawanda began his musical journey in 2014 with the single "Munda Like Me" and quickly gained popularity for his powerful vocals and songs that celebrated Punjabi culture and identity. According to his official Apple Music biography, he had initially aimed to become a police officer but chose instead to pursue his passion for music.

The news of his untimely death has sent shockwaves through the Punjabi entertainment industry and left fans grieving across the globe. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had visited the hospital on Sunday to check on Jawanda’s condition.

Hailing from Pona village in Ludhiana’s Jagraon, Rajvir Jawanda leaves behind a legacy of heartfelt music and memorable performances.
